Towns and Parishes of Edinburgh

The Parishes in Edinburgh come under the jurisdiction of both the Archdiocese of St. Andrews and Edinburgh for Catholic parishes or The Church of Scotland for Presbyterian Parishes. There are ten Catholic Parishes in the area and forty-six Church of Scotland Parishes in the area.

Over the centuries Edinburgh has expanded and incorporated many of its nearby towns. The city has been expanding since the fifth century and as a result has been Scotland's capital for many years. There are several smaller towns relatively near the city including Peebles and Selkirk, which are themselves very popular with tourists. There are also several picturesque villages in and around Edinburgh that accommodate tourists and give you a view of traditional Scottish life.
